The Evolution of Britney Spears Part 1


You can clearly see the evolution of Britney Spears on the cover of Rolling Stones magazine.
How have these images been constructed to present ideas about the star?
On this cover she is only 17!

1) How has the image been framed/cropped? What type of shot has been used and why? What type of magazine is this typical of (refer back to the readership statistics)

The image has been framed in the text. The image has also been cropped as we only see half of the letters, not all of them. A mid shot has been used because you get to see her body language, a close up to see what she is doing. But also a ariel, or low angel shot is being used, which is taken from the top so you can can get a view of britney lying on her bed!

2) Describe Britney’s costume. What does it suggest about her image? Who is this appealing to?
Britney;s costume is very revelling. It is mainly audienced to young female girls, who inspire to be like her, and males. Although, it give a rather sexual image about her, but also with the use of a teletubby bear it makes her seem inncent and sweet.

Yes the props being used is the phone and the bear which conveys that

The image has been cropped so that you can get a zoom in image of britney spears, and her reaction. The image is trying to cause sympathy or relate to it. So you get a powerful image as it is zoomed in, you can see her eyes, they are speaking for her.
